Digital Art Work [Theme: CG-Ficial Intelligence]
Artists are given the power to create, to make belief strange and wonderful fantasy ideas. Like artificial intelligence, advance robots think in a pre-defined logical way, aiming to always make their owned calculated decision. As the artform evolves, CG allows the artists to bring their wildest dreams alive. In the age of technology, in the age of fantasy, what does CG intelligence means to you ? |

| In the fourth CG Excellence competition, artists are invited to recreate their most imaginative ideas and define in their own ways, what CG-ficial intelligence is about. |

Submitting your entry
Individuals can submit multiple works.
Images must be 1188 by 1685 JPEG or TIFF images [at least 90% JPEG quality] |

Animation Short Films
If you prefer communicating through telling stories, this is the space for you! Again, participating is simple – there are no firm rules governing this category. Story is King! If you have an animated short film that mesmerizes, that dazzles and stirs the emotions of the audiences, we want to show this to the world! |

Submitting your entry
Independent or group films are welcomed.
Film duration should be at least 1 minute and not exceeding 11 minutes [Excluding credits].
Film must be created after Jan 2008.
Film submission should be in mov or mpeg2 high quality format [NTSC or PAL]. You may submit the file on medium such as CD/DVD. |

Feng Zhu
Feng began his career eight years ago, designing futuristic sets for Hollywood films. He then joined the gaming world, taking a position at Origin Systems, now Electronic Arts, in Austin, Texas. He was the sole concept designer, working on a successful series called Wing Commander. Since then Feng had been involved in many more Blockbuster hits and triple A game titles. He had worked personally with directors like Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, James Cameron on feature movies, as well as developed games with Blizzard Entertainment, NCSoft, EA, etc. Feng Zhu also designed creatures in Lord of the Rings, Characters in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Robots in Transformers and creatively in other previous AAA games eg. GEARS OF WARS, Guild Wars. |

Shuzo Shiota, President, Polygon Pictures
Shuzo Shiota graduated in International Law from Sophia University. Shuzo joined Polygon Pictures (Polygon) in 1999, and spear headed the company's transition from a boutique studio to a full-capacity animation service studio. Polygon now houses over 90 staff members, and is renowned worldwide for its animation prowess as well as for its efficient production pipeline. Polygon also boasts its ability in creating original characters and contents. Its star creation Rocky & Hopper has amassed over 140 million USD in merchandise sales to date. Shuzo's produce credits include award winning short subjects 'Croccotires: traction AAA', 'Polygon Family 2', the TV series 'Mr. Digital Tokoro', which was nominated for the Annies in 2001. Shuzo was appointed president and CEO of Polygon Pictures in June 2003. |

Andrew Gordon, Supervising Animator, Pixar
Andrew Gordon has been animating characters professionally for over 14 years. He joined Pixar Animation Studios in 1997 where he has been an animator on A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and most recently, Ratatouille. The characters he has worked on include Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Gill, from finding Nemo and Edna Mode, the costume designer in “The Incredibles.” He recently finished production animation on Ratatouille. His work also included directing several promotional spots for Broadcast, Web and Blueray content. Recently, he has supervised animation for Pixars’ new short film to be released with “WALL•E”. He is currently working on Toy Story 3. |

Sen Lai, CGOverdrive Conference Chair
Sen Lai is the Media Education Director of 3dsense Media School. Prior to 3dsense, Sen earned his Degree in Computer Engineering, majoring in computer graphics (CG) technologies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He then pursued his interest in animation in Vancouver, Canada. Since then, Sen has been actively involved in the CG industry. His career spans across various companies, from Hewlett Packard, to Electronic Arts and eventually NTU as a Research Officer. In 2003, Sen founded 3dsense Media School. 3dsense now leads the industry with the core mission to aid the growth of the Singapore CG industry through nurturing CG talents with their highly acclaimed industry immersion programmes. Sen also co-founded Visual Communication Order, which initiated various large scale CG events. From the organization of Computer Animation Festivals in Chengdu, China (3D Passion Chengdu), to CG Overdrive which Sen had been serving as the conference chair. |

Sacha Goedegebure, 3dsense Media School
The director of the globally acclaimed open source content “Big Buck Bunny” and winner of various festival awards for his other films, Sacha is a professional Blender user. The film he directed “Big Buck Bunny” had won two , “The Movie Squad Audience Award (kids of 8-12 voted in the HAFF school program)” as well as “The HAFF Audience Award (festival visitors voted, with over 40 nominations)”. Besides film directing, Sacha interest has always been in teaching. He is currently teaching as a full time lecturer at 3dsense Media School.
Sacha is currently directing his second short with his team at 3dsense Media School. |
